Our Full-Proof Drain Cleaning Process
As true experts in our field, we at Comfort Bros have developed an approach to ensure an efficient drain cleaning service. From the initial inspection to the cleaning itself to the final post-service check, you will experience a smooth resolution to the stubborn clogs in your home.
Inspection
During the inspection phase of the service, we will assess the extent of the clog to understand the approach that will be needed to clear it. Oftentimes, we use our state-of-the-art video inspection cameras to get a full view and to pinpoint the source of clog accurately.
Cleaning
Once our professional drain cleaners have identified the source of the clog, they will proceed with clearing it out. Depending on the type and size of a clog, our plumbers will use one of the following techniques to perform the drain cleaning.
Hydro jetting
A highly effective method for drain cleaning, hydrojetting is best for cleaning drains and sewer lines. It employs high-pressure water jets and a specialized hose to deliver a powerful stream of water. This stream of water uses pressures up to 4,000 PSI, which can cut through grease, tree roots, and mineral buildup.
Snaking & Rodding
One of the most traditional methods for clearing a clog is snaking and rodding. This method involves using a long, flexible metal cable with a coil or auger at the end. The coil or auger is inserted into the drain and mechanically rotated to break up and dislodge the clogged drain.
Chemical Drain Cleaner
Sometimes a chemical drain cleaner is enough to break up a clog. A chemical drain cleaner is formulated with highly potent chemicals that will dissolve a clog. This method is best for clogs caused by hair, grease, soap scum, or other similar clog materials.
Post-Service Check
Once our plumber performs the drain cleaning service, they will then perform a quality check to ensure that the function of the drain is fully restored. Whether we use a drain snake, chemical cleaner, or hydro jetting, we will always leave you with the peace of mind of the highest quality work possible.
Things You Can Do About a Clogged Drain While Help Arrives
So you’ve got a clogged drain and you’ve already called Comfort Bros for help and they’re on their way. Now what? Is there anything you can do about the clog while you wait? There certainly is and below, we provided some tips and tricks for how to prevent damage or attempt to address the clog yourself.
Stop Using the Affected Drain
First things first, stop using the affected drain where the clog is present. Doing so will prevent an overflow of water which can lead to structural damage and even slip hazards.
Remove Visible Debris
If you see any debris sticking out of the drain try to remove it. Sometimes removing it will help pull out the rest of the clog. If that doesn’t work, just wait for your plumber to arrive.
Use a Plunger
If the clog is in one of the sink or toilet drains, a plunger may help move the clog. Use the plunger by pumping it rapidly seven times and removing it swiftly after the eighth time. Flush the toilet or sink with water and see if it does the trick.
Try a Natural Drain Cleaner
Natural drain cleaners can go a long way to clearing a stubborn clog. A good example of a natural drain cleaner is a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Mix these two equally and begin by pouring it into the drain. Allow it to sit for about 15 minutes and then rinse out with boiling water.
Hot Water Flush
Minor clogs caused by grease or soap can easily be unclogged by carefully pouring boiling water down the affected drain. Repeat this flushing several times and see if it helps clear the clogged drain.
